Introduction #
Checkout settings is for merchants to enable and disable payment methods in the checkout page. The ClickPesa Merchant Dashboard offers a variety of payment methods that merchants can use to accept payments from their customers. These methods include:
- Cards: Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay
- NMB Bill Number
- Bank Deposit
- Tigo
- Airtel
- M-Pesa

How to setup payment methods #
How to view all Payment Methods available #
- At the bottom left corner of your dashboard click the settings tab. On settings page Click Checkout tab.
How to enable and disable Payment Methods #
The you will see all the payment methods associated with your account and you will be able to switch on or off any payment methods that you wish to use. Each payment method has a switch button set against a gray background.
- To activate a payment method:
- Click on the switch button. The background will turn blue, indicating the payment method is now Enabled.
- Click on the switch button. The background will turn blue, indicating the payment method is now Enabled.
- To deactivate a payment method:
- Click on the blue switch button. It will move to the left, and the background will revert to gray, indicating the payment method is now Disabled.
- Click on the blue switch button. It will move to the left, and the background will revert to gray, indicating the payment method is now Disabled.
Tips and Best Practices #
- It is recommended to setup general settings before using any of the payment or payout features.
- If your customers are only from within Tanzania you can choose to disable card payments and only enable mobile money payments. If your customers are only abroad, you can choose to disable all mobile money and the NMB Bill Number payment method.
Common Use Cases #
- Tour Operators A tour operator may find some payment methods irrelevant to their clientele. In such instances, they might choose to deactivate certain methods, retaining only those that best serve their customers. For example, a tour operator catering to tourists from abroad might only enable card payment methods like Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay, as a tourist from abroad will not have a mobile money wallet.
